Term BreakSchool holidays and term dates across Australia

Accessibility

School dates should be usable with a keyboard, a screen reader or enlarged text. Term Break uses structured pages and readable tables to support these ways of browsing. This statement describes the accessibility features, the limitations that remain, the checks used before release and how to report a barrier.

What the site does

Pages use a heading structure and a skip link to the main content. Keyboard focus is visible, and text can be enlarged.

Tables have captions and header cells to identify their contents. Colour is not meant to be the only way information is conveyed; highlighted rows and cells also carry a text label. The colour schemes are designed to meet the contrast requirements of WCAG level AA; please report any text or control that is hard to see.

The countdown lets assistive technology announce updates without interrupting what you are reading.

Known limitations

Wide comparison tables scroll sideways on narrow screens. The same dates are also available on the individual state and territory pages.

The countdown needs JavaScript to run. You can still read the dates with JavaScript turned off.

Linked government documents are outside the operator's control. Their accessibility may differ from that of this site.

Testing

Every build includes automated accessibility tests in both colour schemes. Manual keyboard and screen reader checks are planned before public release.

Automated checks cannot identify every barrier. Reports from people using the site help identify issues that these checks may miss.

Report a barrier

Tell the operator through the contact page where the barrier appeared and what you were trying to do. Include the page address and, if useful, the browser or assistive technology you were using.

The contact form opens your own mail program. You can review your message before sending it.
